
Commander of the Montgomery County Police Department’s 2nd District, Capt. Amy Daum, shared a story of Sgt. Christopher Jerman saving the life of a suspect who was arrested and lost consciousness due to a suspected overdose. Sgt. Jerman was honored with a First Responder Award.
Per Capt. Amy Daum, via X: “Sgt. Jerman is a newer addition to the @mcpnews 2D team. This week, we thanked him for his actions during an incident that occurred while he was serving with @4DCommander. Officers were dispatched for a shoplifter who was believed to be armed.
The suspect fled on foot, but was located nearby. After a brief struggle the person was taken into custody. While officers were transporting the person, they noticed the person losing consciousness. Officers immediately stopped and provided medical aid, including Narcan administered by Sgt. Jerman.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) took over care when they arrived. The involved officers, including Sgt. Jerman, are recognized for their quick-thinking and professionalism during an evolving encounter. Thanks Sgt. Jerman!”
