
Montgomery County Park Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a lost hiker around 6pm on Thursday, December 28 in Boyds.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the hiker was “lost and disoriented” in the area where the 10 Mile Creek Trail and Osprey Heights Trail meet. ECC (Emergency Communications Center) were in contact with the individual and were able to obtain a GPS location.
Park Police UTVs located and extricated the adult male hiker at 7pm. The hiker, who had been walking since 3:30pm, was evaluated and there were no injuries reported.
Piringer tweeted, “Successful Search along 10 Mile Creek Trl, has resulted in a person being found, @mcfrs UTV & @ParkPolice ATV assisting, one (1) adult is being extracted. It is expected to take 30 minutes or so traveling along rough terrain on a remote, dark trail back to staging area.”
