Another Big Rain Storm Coming Our Way; Snow Next Week?

Courtesy of MCFRS

Coming off of a pretty big rainstorm that impacted the area with early dismissals, some delays, flooding, and power outages, we have a similar storm coming our way at the end of this week with possible winter weather to follow.

Heavy, cold rain is expected to move into the area on Friday night into Saturday. The storm could be similar to what we just went through with high winds and flooding possible. Because of when it’s expected to make its way over, it shouldn’t impact schools, though it’s possible Friday night activities could be affected.

It’s exciting to see that little snowflake on your weather app, but when you see it for the following week…it’s very important to be cautious. While it’s certainly possible for us to see snow early next week (it’s possible between late Monday and Wednesday), we are more than five days out and we all know how things can change. With that said, different models are showing different solutions with almost every run. Right now it remains up in the air, but Jonathan Myers of WUSA9 shared a few model outputs that show some possibilities (below). Confidence is low at this time for various reasons.

Per Myers, “Next weather-maker is rain late Friday/Saturday AM, it may be something other than rain… with perhaps snow and/or mix involved Monday night into early Tuesday. From any certainty this far out with respect to timing, amounts or even if it will happen!”
