Driver Strikes Fire Hydrant, Causing Flood; Leaves Scene of the Crash

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for fire hydrant that was struck by a driver, causing the nearby roads to flood. The crash occurred on Hewitt Ave and Bethpage Ln in Aspen Hill late Saturday morning.

According to MCFRS Chief spokesperson Pete Piringer, the driver struck the fire hydrant and left the scene of the crash, leaving the car behind. Crews have been working to clean up the area, and the majority of the flooding has been cleaned up as of 1:15pm.
