In the latest “Expected Snowfall” map from the National Weather Service (NWS), much of the area (Montgomery, Howard, Frederick, Carroll, and parts of Fairfax and London counties) is in the 3-4 inch range, with DC, Prince George’s County and part of Fairfax County in the 2-3 inch range.
The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7am Tuesday morning. The heaviest stuff is expected to move into the area this evening and continue overnight. Due to temperatures, roads are expected to get pretty bad fairly quickly once the heavier snow starts to fall.
Earlier today, Chuck Bell of NBC4 stated on his Facebook page that he expects a “90% chance that at least 90% of the local school districts will be closed tomorrow.” Things should start to clear out in the morning, but the cold temps and up to 4 inches of snow that falls will have an impact on schools.
