Mari Vanna DC, the popular 6,000 square-foot, three-level restaurant that opened in January 2013, has announced that it will be closing permanently.

The Russian restaurant is a franchise (with locations around the world) that serves authentic, home-style Russian cuisine in a “tea party-meets-grandma’s house” atmosphere. It has served celebrities such as Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, Prince George’S County very own Taraji P. Henson, Paula Abdul, Marlon Wayans, Omar Epps, and more. Mari Vanna DC announced the following via social media:

Dear Guests! For eleven years, Mari Vanna has warmly welcomed you with an open heart into her cozy Home. Yet, as Chekhov asserted, “fortunately or unfortunately, in our lives, there is nothing that doesn’t come to an end sooner or later.” And now we have come to the moment when it is time to close our doors with a creak in our hearts.

Our Family extends deep gratitude to all of you, our precious Friends, for these warm years spent together. To each of you – our sincere thanks!

Mari Vanna’s last pre-retirement day will be January 29th. During these final working days, we invite you to join us in recalling together the best moments that have lingered in the memory of our walls.

With love and gratitude, Mari Vanna
