MCPD is Scheduled For Three-Part Assessment to Maintain Accreditation

The Montgomery County Police Department is scheduled for a three-part assessment as part of a program to maintain Accreditation by verifying that the agency meets professional standards.

Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the Accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

The assessment includes standard compliance, virtual site visits and extensive interviews. As part of the assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments online at the following link: http://cimrs2.calea.org/320

A copy of the standards is available at MCPD Headquarters. The local contact is Ms. Daedra Carrio Westby, who can be reached by phone at 240-773-6113 or by e-mail at [email protected]

Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Montgomery County Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards for Accreditation may send them to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia 20155. Written comments may also be submitted by email to [email protected], putting “Montgomery County, MD Police Department” in the subject line.
