Southbound Georgia Avenue is closed near International Dr, between route 28 and Rossmoor Blvd, in the area of Leisure World.

According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS), there are hazardous conditions due to a large tree in imminent danger of falling. Per MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, when/if it falls, it would block several lanes and, more importantly, it could strike passing vehicles or pedestrians.

The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security has issued the following alert: “Traffic incident has closed all southbound lanes of Georgia Avenue (MD 97) at International Drive. Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route.”
