Former MCPS High School Track Coach Sentenced for Sex Abuse of Student Athlete

A former track and field coach at Northwood High School that was charged with sexually abusing one of his athletes, was sentenced today in Rockville.

Per the news release: Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, the Honorable Michael McAuliffe sentenced defendant, Giovanni Reumante, 34, of Takoma Park, to five years suspend all but one to serve and three years of supervised probation upon release. In addition, as part of a plea agreement, Reumante has waived two years of credit for time served. He will be registered a sex offender for life.

Reumante pleaded guilty to Sex Abuse of a Minor on November 1, 2022. The defendant worked as a track and field coach at Northwood High School for multiple years beginning in 2013. The victim came forward as an adult. She was one of Reumante’s athletes between 2014-2017. He was arrested on December 29, 2021. He had also worked as a paraeducator at the school.
