Adventist HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute continues to expand the cardiovascular services offered to patients in the Washington, D.C., region with the addition of Homam Ibrahim, M.D. Dr. Ibrahim, who will perform procedures at White Oak Medical Center, is an interventional cardiologist specializing in a range of minimally invasive heart procedures.

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Ibrahim join our team and welcome the experience and compassion he brings to our patients and community,” said Anthony Stahl, president, White Oak Medical Center. “Our hospital is honored to continue the Adventist HealthCare legacy of providing cardiac care in our region. This legacy began more than 60 years ago when the first heart valve surgery in the Washington, D.C., area was performed at the former Washington Adventist Hospital. Dr. Ibrahim reflects our commitment to excellence and innovation as we extend God’s care though the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.”

Dr. Ibrahim joins Adventist HealthCare from NYU Langone Health in New York City, where he served as director of inpatient services and director of research at the NYU Heart Valve Center. During his tenure, he evaluated several thousand patients with valve disease and performed more than 1,500 procedures. His areas of specialty include transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement, transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions, coronary interventions, percutaneous closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO) and atrial septal defects.

“Dr. Ibrahim’s expertise in transcatheter coronary and valve interventions provide patients world-class care, often without the need for open-heart surgery,” noted Dennis Friedman, M.D., medical director, Adventist HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute. “Dr. Ibrahim is committed to the safety of our patients and community and is an excellent addition to our world-class medical team.”

Dr. Ibrahim earned his medical degree from Tishreen University School of Medicine in Syria and completed his residency in internal medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital/Weill-Cornell Medical College in Texas. He completed a general cardiology fellowship at Houston Methodist’s DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center and a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.

Dr. Ibrahim is accepting patients at Adventist HealthCare Cardiac Associates at the Medical Pavilion at White Oak, 11886 Healing Way, and at 12501 Prosperity Drive, both in Silver Spring.
