Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a crash that involved a vehicle driven off of the roadway and into a sediment/retention pond on the southbound I-270 ramp to Montgomery Village Avenue on Thursday night.

In an update provided by MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the driver of the vehicle appears to have had a medical emergency that led to the crash. An adult and a dog were evaluated for non-life threatening injuries.

Per Piringer, a single 9-1-1 caller saw the vehicle leave the roadway, stopped, and remained on the scene until the arrival of MCFRS units. The first responding firefighters indicated “the driver was lucky and otherwise wouldn’t likely been noticed til tomorrow sometime.”
