17-Year-Old Arrested for Bethesda Armed Robbery

Montgomery County Police have released additional information regarding an armed robbery that occurred on Wednesday in Bethesda.

Per the news release: A 17-year-old Potomac teen has been arrested for an armed robbery that occurred on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Tobacco King in Bethesda.

On March 20, 2024, at approximately 10 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the 7700 block of Wisconsin Avenue for the report of an armed robbery that just occurred.

The preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that the suspect entered the business and began to place a large order. When the employee asked for the suspect’s identification, the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded the items. The suspect left the store with the stolen property.

Shortly after, officers from the 2nd District located the suspect, matching the description provided, at a nearby bus stop. The juvenile suspect was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without incident.

The juvenile suspect was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, charged with armed robbery and fire-arm related offenses and released on a $10,000 bond.
