Home of MoCo’s First Wawa Sold For $7.81 Million

Wawa’s first Montgomery County location, at 405 S Frederick Ave (355) in Gaithersburg, officially opened on Thursday, March 7 after a few years of waiting. According to a recent report by Maryland Newsletters, the building was sold for $7.81 million as it opened.

Per the report, “A partnership headed by 1788 Holdings, which developed the Wawa at 405 S. Frederick Avenue, sold the building just as it opened, to Virginia-based WWGMD, LLC.” The 5,060 SF store was marketed as a Triple Net deal that already has a 20-year lease in place, so Wawa fans have nothing to worry about.

We originally reported the news of MoCo’s first Wawa back in May of 2019, with initial plans to open by the end of 2020. It ended up opening nearly five years later, but the delay hasn’t deterred Wawa from doing business in Montgomery County as they’ve submitted an application for a second Montgomery County Wawa.
