Sheriff’s Office Appoints Keena Jones to Position of Assistant Sheriff (Lieutenant Colonel)

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office congratulated Keena Jones on her appointment to the position of Assistant Sheriff (Lieutenant Colonel) for Operations in the Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.

In a post on social media, the Sheriff’s Office wrote, “Assistant Sheriff Jones has more than twenty-three years of experience and distinguished service as a sworn Deputy Sheriff with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. She is the first African American woman, in the history of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, to break barriers and transcend through the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain, and to the high-ranking appointed position of Assistant Sheriff.

Throughout her career, she has worked in the Civil Section, overseen operations and supervised deputies in the Domestic Violence Section of the Family Division, and most recently has been assigned as the Division Commander for the Court Services Division. This Division is not only the largest staffed Division within the Sheriff’s Office, but it also conducts the core functions of supporting daily judicial operations.

Assistant Sheriff Jones currently serves as the public safety award liaison for three local city and county chambers of commerce, the Maryland Sheriff’s Association, and is an esteemed active member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE). Assistant Sheriff Jones demonstrates courageous leadership that promotes productivity and professional development, displays great detail- oriented skills and has a strong ability to execute tasks effectively and efficiently.

Most notably, Assistant Sheriff Jones is fully committed to the Sheriff’s Office mission to provide the best possible, professional law enforcement services. She is dedicated to the vision of cultivating a positive law enforcement culture, and establishing relationships with our valued stakeholders, community partners and residents of Montgomery County.”
