Christopher’s Garden Center is now open at 1610 Olney-Sandy Spring Rd, in the space previously occupied by Good Earth Garden Market.

The new garden center is being opened by the owners of Christopher’s Hardware, which is located at 500 Olney-Sandy Spring Road. According to a Facebook post, “While we’re still setting up, our doors are OPEN for you to enjoy our fantastic selection of annuals, perennials, mulch, soils, and more!” The location is open Tuesday-Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 8am-6pm, and Sunday 10am-5pm.

Good Earth Garden Market closed in December 2023 after 43 years in business.  “It is with a sad heart that we announce Good Earth Sandy Spring is closing for good. It is the end of an era that has spanned 43 wonderful years. Good Earth was originally founded in 1979 and has served the Olney/Sandy Spring Market since then. We’ve moved a few times, but through thick and thin our customers, you, have followed and been loyal. We could not have stayed around for 43 years without you. Thank you.

It’s been a fun ride all these years. I have a lot of fond memories of great customers, wonderful employees, fun seasons and tough work. We’ve learned a lot and it pushes us to keep improving. I’m blessed that 6 employees who started while in Olney high schools, still work for us, spanning 32 years. The full-time staff in Sandy Spring have all been offered positions in our Potomac store. We hope to see you there.
This Wednesday, December 21 will be our last day open in Sandy Spring. We will be open 11-4. There’s a little pottery left, a few swags, some open pallets of soil, a few McCutcheons products and some poinsettias, all 20-50% off. The first 30 people who stop in to say good bye get a free 4″ poinsettia.
I Thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. I wish you all the best and hope that the future brings us together again.”
