5 Marathons in 5 Days: Carroll County Baseball Coach Runs to Raise Money for a Special Needs Baseball Team

Chris Vaughn is the proud coach of Team Marvels- a remarkable special needs baseball team based in Manchester, MD in nearby Carroll County. He is running five marathons in five days to raise money for his team (Team Marvels of Manchester Baseball, is a Section 501(c)(3) non-profit organization).

“Coach Chris” has now completed four of the five consecutive marathons he is running- having started his journey in Frostburg, MD on April 17th and finishing the last marathon on Sunday, April 21st. The final mile will be going directly into Team Marvel’s baseball opening day game in Manchester, MD at 2:30pm start time.

When asked why he is doing this run, he replied, “This physical challenge isn’t just about pushing my own limits; it’s about shining a spotlight on the everyday challenges that our Marvels players courageously face and conquer.  That’s why I’m excited to share with you a special initiative that I’l be undertaking: running 5 marathons in 5 days. From April 17th to April 21st, I will embark on an extraordinary journey from Frostburg, MD, all the way to our beloved ball fields in Manchester.”

Coach Chris added, “Our mission at Team Marvels is to empower children with special needs by providing them with the opportunity to participate in the sport of baseball. We strive to take the “dis” out of disability and show that every child has the ability to be a superhero. Our program is designed for children between the ages of 5-14, who are passionate about baseball and want to showcase their skills. We aim to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where children can develop their physical, social, and emotional skills while having fun and making friends. Our goal is to inspire and motivate children to reach their full potential and help them become confident, resilient, and successful individuals.”

He has created a Team Marvels GoFundme donation page, to fundraise for the team for years to come. The donations go toward providing Jerseys, Registration Fees, Medals, and the End-of-Season Celebration Game. For more information contact: https://www.teammarvels.com
