Montgomery County Police and Hyundai Motor America to Host Free Anti-Theft Software Upgrade Event

Montgomery County Department of Police and representatives from Hyundai Motor America will host a press conference on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. at Montgomery County Department of Police headquarters to kick off a three-day event to help Hyundai owners prevent auto thefts.

Per MCPD: Representatives will provide details regarding the free software update available to owners of all 2011 – 2021 Hyundai makes and models.  Immediately following the news conference, Hyundai representatives will provide demonstrations.

The software upgrade event will provide eligible Hyundai vehicles with anti-theft software developed to protect against the theft mode popularized on social media. This upgrade will be offered free of charge.

The free anti-theft software update event will take place Thursday and Friday (May 9 and 10) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Montgomery County Public Safety Headquarters, 100 Edison Park Dr., Gaithersburg. Hyundai representatives will also be at police headquarters on Saturday (May 11) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There is no cost. All visiting Hyundai owners will receive a complimentary steering wheel lock.
