Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the scene of what chief spokesperson Pete Piringer referred to as a “major gas leak” on Norfolk Ave in Bethesda at approximately 7:30pm on Friday evening into the night.
According to Piringer, the outside restaurant seating areas have been evacuated/cleared out, multiple stores have evacuated as precaution, and the gas company is on the scene evaluating.
Norfolk Avenue is closed between Delray Avenue & Saint Elmo Avenue. Piringer stated that the gas company has found high meter readings and is looking for source of gas leak. In the latest update, it was stated that there is no fire. Photos courtesy of MCFRS.
