In this article we take a look back at the upcoming restaurants that have created the most buzz on our website and associated social media accounts in the last month or two. Today we’re going to highlight the five (in no particular order) that have generated the most buzz in the last few months in terms of views, likes, and shares:
Phowheels (Burtonsville): Tuan Vo is the owner of Phowheels. He was born and raised in Montgomery County, attending White Oak Middle School and Springbrook High School, and currently lives in Burtonsville. He will be bringing the DMV’s first drive-thru Vietnamese restaurant to Burtonsville Crossing in the late fall. Additional information can be found here.
Tokyo Hibachi (formerly Nori Japan, Gaithersburg): In January 2023, we reported that Nori Japan, one of the last remaining tenants at Lakeforest Mall, had announced that it would be opening a new location across from the former mall at 9615 Lost Knife Rd in the Montgomery Village Crossing shopping center. The restaurant will be named Tokyo Hibachi and will be located in the space that was previously occupied by Wok Express. According to a Facebook post by the owner, Tokyo Hibachi is now expected to open in mid-June. More here.
Plaza Mexico (Flower Hill): Plaza Mexico, which has two locations in Frederick, has signed on to open a rooftop restaurant and bar at the upcoming North Pointe at Flower Hill, a new 16,000 SF retail and restaurant center located at 18251 Flower Hill Way in Gaithersburg. More here.
Yummy Bowl Mongolian Stir-fry and Sushi (Rockville): Coming soon signage is up for Yummy Bowl Mongolian Stir-fry and Sushi at 2010 Veirs Mill Rd in Rockville. The restaurant will be located in the space previously occupied by Bamboo Buffet in the Twinbrook Center. The news comes just a couple days after an article “remembering” BD’s Mongolian Grill in Bethesda. Additional info here.
