Three-Year-Old Girl Recovering After Accidentally Shooting Herself; 15-Year-Old Charged With Possessing Ammunition By Prohibited Person


Montgomery County Police have released additional information regarding an accidental shooting that occurred Tuesday in Montgomery Village.


According to police, “A 3-year-old girl is recovering in an area hospital after accidentally shooting herself inside a Montgomery Village apartment.

On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at approximately 12:09 p.m., officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police 6th District responded to the 18700 block of Walkers Choice Rd for a report of an injured child. Montgomery County Fire Rescue transported the child to an area hospital where she underwent surgery.

6th District investigators applied for and received a warrant to search the residence. Inside, they found a .40 caliber privately manufactured firearm. One person, a 15-year-old who does not live at the location, has been charged with possessing ammunition by a prohibited person, a misdemeanor. The juvenile was released to his parents.

This remains an active investigation.” More information will be released when it becomes available.
