Rising Sherwood Seniors Prepare For Second Year of Club That Aims to Provide Sports Equipment to Children in Need

Rising seniors Abby Sorkin and Emily Sefcik from Sherwood High School started the “Sports for All Club” during their junior year. They collected donations of new or gently used sports equipment at their school and donated it to kids from under-resourced communities.

The donations were made through ‘Leveling the Playing Field’, an organization that collects new and gently-used sports and playground equipment from local youth sports communities. Volunteers then sort the donations in their warehouse so that it can distributed to schools and organizations working to provide an affordable and accessible option to under-resourced youth groups, community programs and schools throughout several markets.

The rising seniors are excited for the second year of the program and being “able to give kids from under-resourced communities the opportunity to enjoy the mental and physical benefits of youth sports participation.” Additional information can be seen on their instagram page, linked here.
