Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision That Occurred Overnight

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision with entrapment in Gaithersburg at approximately 2:15am on Saturday that has now been confirmed as fatal. The following is a brief summary of events regarding the fatal collision that occurred on Saturday, July 20, 2024, on Goshen Road near Rock Elm Way:

“At approximately 2:16 a.m., 6th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a two-vehicle collision. The preliminary investigation has revealed that a blue Kia collided with a white Hyundai while traveling on Goshen Road near Rock Elm Way. The driver of the Hyundai was extricated from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Kia was transported to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
This is an active and ongoing investigation, and CRU detectives are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call (240) 773-6620. A formal news release will be distributed once more information becomes available, including the name of the decedent, following proper notification of next of kin.”
