Restaurant industry professionals and their allies gathered tonight at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center for the 42nd Annual RAMMYS Awards Gala as Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) announced winners and a range of special distinctions, celebrating excellence in long-standing categories that range from individual professional honors to accolades celebrating culinary concepts and service. Silver Spring, MD restaurant Zinnia came home with the RAMMY for Best Beer Program.
Zinnia opened in the longtime home of Mrs. K’s Tollhouse in 2021 and has previously been awarded “Best Tavern Garden” by Washingtonian magazine. The “Beer Program of the Year” award went to the establishment “distinguished by the quality, diversity, clarity and value of its beer program.”
Brewery restaurants and brewpubs were eligible for this category and were judged based on the diversity and quality of their craft beer. Zinnia had a tavern that has been described as a “step back in time as you descend the stairs and feel as though you’re in an old European pub.” They offer their selection of beers on draft and in large format bottles Wednesday through Sunday evenings and even have live music 3 nights a week at the tavern.
