~75 Firefighters Respond to Apartment Fire Thursday Morning

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the Lockwood Apartments in the 11400blk of Lockwood Dr in Silver Spring (White Oak) at approximately 5:55am on Thursday morning for the report of a fire.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, approximately 75 firefighters responded to a fire in an occupied three-story apartment building. The fire, located on the first floor, was extinguished, and numerous occupants were assisted out of the building.

Update: Fifteen total residents have been displaced from six apartments that have been condemned (unsafe to occupy). Damage is estimated to $600,000, including $500,000 in structural and$100,00 in contentes.  There were no civilian injuries and one firefighter was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
