County and Others Provide Free Transportation Options for Voters

In a press release to the community, the county showcased ways the county Department of Transportation and others are making free transportation options available to during early voting and on Election Day.

Two hours of free parking are permitted at the following locations: “The Silver Spring Civic Building and who park at the Town Square/ Garage at 801 Ellsworth Dr. (directly across from the Civic Building)” and “The County Executive Office Building at 101 Monroe St. in Rockville and who park at the public parking garage adjacent to the County Council Office Building at the corner of Monroe Street and Jefferson Street.” Drivers must show their “I Voted” sticker to a garage attendant to qualify for free parking from now until Nov. 3.

Other methods of transportation, like bikes and scooters are also seeing similar election-related discounts. On Election Day, Capital Bikeshare will offer unlimited free rides on classic bikes for trips under 30 minutes and, according to the press release, all e-scooter companies in MoCo will offer discounts and free rides.

MCDOT-operated bus services will continue to offer free rides to all passengers as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
