Montgomery County Police Officer Injured as Juvenile in Stolen Vehicle Rams Police Car; Another Juvenile Suspect Attempts to Ram Police in Separate Incident

District 3 Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) Commander Jason Cokinos expressed frustration, stating, “More juvenile auto theft incidents/arrests… again… 😡” after several incidents involving juveniles and stolen vehicles on Thursday, August 15.

Cokinos wrote, “What is enraging is the behavior is reckless and dangerous. We had an @mcpnews 3rd District officer hurt yesterday (luckily minor injuries) in one incident and in another incident the juvenile offender tried to ram multiple police cars in an unsuccessful escape attempt:

– Officers in White Oak spotted an occupied stolen car which resulted in one police car being struck intentionally (pictured) with one juvenile taken into custody.

-Officers later spotted another stolen vehicle that fled towards PG county which we did not chase for safety reasons.

-Officers then located another stolen vehicle occupied on New Hampshire Avenue where our plain clothes officers converged on the vehicle to apprehend the juvenile offender. Instead of immediately surrendering, the juvenile tried to ram multiple police cars and then tried to jump out of the vehicle window and flee… unsuccessfully and was arrested.”
