Forest Estates Farmers Market Returns This Sunday

The Forest Estates Farmers Market at Getty Park in Silver Spring will relaunch for its 14th year on Sunday, September 15, with a bi-weekly schedule through November. Vendors include Common Root Farm, Bump ‘n Grind, The Mixing Bowl Bakery, Pizzeria CoCo, and Benchmark Sharpening. as well as a special appearance by Bike Werks for bike repairs on opening day.

According to the market “For Opening Day, September 15, we’ll kick things off with MoCo Parks Department Director Miti Figueredo, State Senator Jeff Waldstreicher, delegates Aaron Kaufman, Emily Shetty, and Jared Solomon, and councilmembers Natali Fani-Gonzalez, Evan Glass, and Laurie-Anne Sayles.

Vendors:

1. Common Root Farm: A small-scale certified organic vegetable farm located near Olney, MD. It also offers a weekly Community Supported Agriculture/CSA bag of produce drop-off.

2. Bump ‘n Grind: Kensington-based coffee roaster offering coffee to drink as well as bags of their signature roasted blends and single origin organic and/or fairtrade coffee.

3. The Mixing Bowl Bakery: Woman-owned home-made sweets and treats for all occasions: brownies & bars, cakes & cupcakes, cookies, and more. Just launched this year.

4. Pizzeria CoCo: Women- and AAPI-owned, Four Corners-based pop-up pizzeria crafting artisanal, 10-inch pizzas using high quality ingredients with delicious vegan options. Available for catering your next event!  They are just launching this year, but have already been involved in NYC events!

5. Benchmark Sharpening: Sharpening knives, gardening tools, scissors, and woodworking tools. Newly launched. NOTE: Benchmark will not be there Opening Day September 15 nor October 13.

In addition, on September 15 only, Bike Werks, a mobile bike repair shop, will be at the market to help get bikes ready for fall rides! (Bike donation day is October 13.)”
