The Montgomery County community is rallying to support the family of 18-year-old Dania Cruz-Mejia, who was found dead in her home on Wednesday, September 18. Her boyfriend, 22-year-old Gerber Luis Sanchez Centeno, has been arrested and charged with her murder. More details can be found in the GoFundMe fundraiser below:
“Dania Carolina Cruz Mejia was 18 years old. She arrived to the United States 5 months ago. She was a native of El Salvador, studying to reach her goals; she had so many dreams. She was a happy person, a daydreamer and has now left a huge void in our hearts.
Her boyfriend with who she had spent the last couple years with decided to reunite with her in the state of Maryland. 10 days after reuniting with Dania and her family, he took advantage of being home alone with her. There was an argument, which ended with him taking the life of Dania Carolina Cruz Mejia, leaving her family, friends and all who loved her devastated.
We are asking for any help so that we can hold a funeral service and send her remains to El Salvador. Her mother is patiently waiting to say her final goodbyes to her adored baby.”
