Currently, MCPS only offers a minimum of 30 minutes of physical education per week in elementary schools, while places up the street (like Frederick County) require 90 minutes. In D.C., 150 minutes is required, and our neighbor Howard County requires 90 minutes.

If you support this bill, please e-mail or call Delegate Anne Kaiser, who is the head of the Ways and Means committee. She will decide whether or not a vote is held on this bill and represents Montgomery County in this matter.

The new plan, which is about half the size of the older plan, now looks very similar to Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg. Regency Centers made these changes after community residents voiced concerns over the previous plans.

Below is the part of Downtown Crown that I feel these illustrations resemble (courtesy of Smart Urban Living).

Looks like if you are parking in Metro’s parking lots you are going to get hit with some higher fees starting today.

According Metro’s website, starting today Metro will begin collecting fees two hours earlier on weekdays and end one hour later on Fridays. Saturday parking isn’t getting off scot-free either. Metro will be charging $2 for parking on Saturdays starting Feb. 10. But, good news, parking at Metro’s lots on Sundays and federal holidays still won’t cost you anything..at least for now.

Though he announced his candidacy months ago, I didn’t realize that the Steve Solomon running for county council was the same person as “Solly” from the radio. I had the opportunity to speak with him at ESPN980 studios in Rockville last week.

Solomon, 41, has been the producer and “sidekick” on The Steve Czaban Show for several years now. He also produces and hosts a national morning show on SB Nation Radio. Solomon says he does and says things on the radio that most others won’t and believes that this type of honesty and straightforwardness is something that would help him if elected.

Ronald Darby attended Potomac High Shool in Oxon Hill (P.G. County), but longtime MoCo sports reporter, Brandy Louis Simms (@BLS1969), revealed that Darby’s mother attended Seneca Valley High School in Germantown.

Mack Hollins is a Wootton High School graduate. He caught 16 passes for 226 yards this season. His lone touchdown came earlier this year against the Washington Redskins.
