ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt, a MoCo native who graduated from Sherwood High School, announced Monday that he’d miss the evening’s edition of SportsCenter after dealing with a “bit of a medical scare.”

Van Pelt said he suffered a supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), a rapid heartbeat that develops when the normal electrical impulses of the heart are disrupted.

“With the increase in COVID-19 cases brought on by the Omicron variant, we are concerned about victims of Domestic Violence who may be suffering in silence. In addition, we have seen an increase in reports of Child Abuse in recent months and we know social isolation is one of the greatest risk factors for Elder Abuse.

Montgomery County Public Schools sent out the following community message on Monday alerting patents and students that the deadline to submit comments on proposed changes to the student discipline policy are due by February 7.
