ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today announced the expansion of his Re-Fund The Police Initiative to a three-year, $500 million investment in increased support for law enforcement, and for increased crime control and victim protection services across the state. The governor also announced that he will reintroduce legislation to address violent crime during the upcoming session of the Maryland General Assembly.


Poolesville

The Montgomery County ABS announced that its Poolesville location will be closed today, Tuesday, January 11.

The Poolesville ABS store will remain closed today because of a staffing shortage. Please visit the nearby Darnestown store at 12155 Darnestown Rd. or the Clarksburg Village store at 12051 Chestnut Branch Way. We expect Poolesville to reopen tomorrow. https://t.co/E7ISCfBm6Y.


MCPS

Montgomery County Public Schools Director of Systemwide Athletics Jeffrey Sullivan released a statement regarding an incident that occurred at a JV girls’ basketball game between Sherwood and Albert Einstein on Saturday, January 8.

According to the letter, members of both teams accused one another of making racist and derogatory comments during the course of the game.


Rockville

Per the City or Rockville;

The celebration will include a video presentation at 10 a.m. on Rockville 11, channel 11 on county cable, and the city’s YouTube channel, highlighting past Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations and Mayor and Council initiatives to promote equity and inclusion in Rockville.


Bethesda

The United States Park Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 54-year-0ld Sibylle Zitko of Bethesda, who has been missing from the area of the C&O Canal at Lock 7 in Cabin John since January 6.

Silver Spring

Montgomery County Police, along with assistance from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services, removed a man that was lodged inside of the chimney of a single family home on Dameron Dr and Forest Glen Rd in Forest Glen.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the man was not authorized to be there.
