The Montgomery County Board of Education (Board) held a business meeting on Thursday, November 10, 2022. During the meeting, the Board discussed the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Act; approved pilot courses; and held its final facilities and boundaries work session.
Blueprint for Maryland’s Future: The Board discussed the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Act (Blueprint) which lays out a roadmap for improving the future of public education in Maryland. Its policy and funding recommendations are designed to move schools forward in a comprehensive way.
The work of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and its partners, such as offices within the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, local colleges and universities, and business industry leaders, all are reflected in various aspects of the Blueprint policies. Approval of Pilot Courses: The Board approved the courses identified by the Office of Curriculum and Instructional Programs as pilot courses or active courses for middle and high school students, as required by Board Policy IFA, Curriculum, approved on February 13, 2001, and its accompanying MCPS Regulation IFA-RA, Curriculum. Facilities and Boundaries Work Session: The Board held a final work session on the Superintendent’s Recommended FY 2024 Capital Budget and Amendments to the FY 2023-2028 Capital Improvements Program. It reviewed follow-up on recent facilities and boundaries public hearings and also discussed future non-capital issues. View the PowerPoint presentation.
