Events at Sandy Spring Slave Museum

We’re working with the Sandy Spring Slave Museum to let you know about upcoming events.

This Saturday, 2/8 at noon, check out A Portrayal of Josiah Henson by Kevin Fowler ($10 admission)
On Saturday, 2/15 at noon, there will be a presentation on Segregated Schools in Montgomery County (1866-1961) by Troy Boddy.
The presentation will cover the history of education for African-American children in Montgomery County followed by a panel discussion that will be moderated by Audrey Hill.
On Saturday, 2/22 and Sunday, 2/23 at 4pm the museum comes alive for Local Legends. Come meet those who paved the way and opened doors for others to walk through.
On March 14-28, check out the featured exhibit on Women’s Suffrage (1920-2020). “In Black & White” African-American women who lifted as they climbed.

Bethesda Film Fest

The 2024 Bethesda Film Fest will feature five short documentary films made by filmmakers from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Screenings will be held Friday April 5 and Saturday April 6 at Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema.
