Montgomery County native and Wake Forest star defensive lineman Mateen Ibirogba has committed to Texas Tech, according to a report by Hayes Fawcett, citing Ibirogba’s representative Jon Perzley, who confirmed the decision to Pete Nakos and Fawcett for On3Sports.
Ibirogba, a Clarksburg High School alum, is coming off a strong season at Wake Forest and entered the transfer portal as the No. 1 defensive lineman in the On3 Portal Rankings. The 6-foot-3, 296-pound defensive lineman recorded 21 quarterback hurries, three sacks, and a forced fumble this season, emerging as one of the most disruptive interior defenders available.
Before transferring to Wake Forest, Ibirogba began his college career at Georgetown University, continuing a steady rise that started back home in Montgomery County. At Clarksburg High School, he was a dominant presence on the defensive line, earning All-Montgomery County First Team honors and being named Montgomery County MVP in 2021. During his senior season, he totaled 60 tackles, four sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and 16 quarterback hurries.
Ibirogba now heads to Texas Tech, adding another Montgomery County product to the Big 12 and giving the Red Raiders a proven, high-impact defensive lineman with experience at multiple collegiate levels.
