Construction Update at Lidl in Montgomery Village

Construction is underway at the site of the upcoming Lidl at the Professional Center site that was on Montgomery Village and Centerway, across from the Montgomery Village shopping center.

Previous plans to demolish every building in the center were shared with the community months ago. Lidl has demolished every building that is currently in the Professional Center to make room for the new grocery store and parking lot, which will have over 150 parking spots available.

A March 2021 opening is expected.

Lidl also has plans to open locations in Glenmont, in the old Shoppers space, and Takoma Park (6881 New Hampshire Ave.). Both are also expected to open in the first half of 2021.

  2. Good News. Montgomery Village is is looking up

  3. Why are we getting TWO discount grocery stores across the street from each other??? Why not a new shopping center or decent resturant or 2? Ridiculous.

Visited the Lidl in Hagerstown yesterday and was blown away. Nothing like it.. expansive, clean as a whistle, totally stocked. Amazing meats, and produce… things you’ve never seen. Chocolates from Germany, of course..and tons of unique and yummy things.. give yourself time to stroll, and view. No $.25 needed.. at least in Hagerstown. You will bag your things after paying. They have paper bags for $.7… Excited!!

I shop Aldis for a lot but not for meat, chicken and fish. Lidl is my all time FAV! Excellent selection, clean, great produce and the meats and chicken are also good here. I cannot wait for it to open. I will for sure stop shopping Aldis and go to Lidl now though. I can’t imagine anyone preferring Aldis to Lidl once they’ve visited one.
