F45 Training, an Australian franchisor and operator of fitness centers based in Austin, Texas, will be opening its fourth Montgomery County location in Germantown (current locations exist in Bethesda and Silver Spring, though Google lists Bethesda as temporarily closed), with an additional location opening soon in Olney.
The fitness center will open in the 3,299 SF location that was previously home to Da Marco The Italian Place at The Shops at Seneca Meadows shopping center, next to Wegmans and across from Siriwan Thai. Da Marco closed its Germantown location in April of 2020, following 4 years in Germantown. Part of the space is still available for lease and will include the outdoor dining patio for a future restaurant.
With over 1,750 studios in 45 countries across Australia/Oceania, North America, South America, Asia, Europe and Africa, F45 caught the eye of the Mark Wahlberg Investment Group and FOD Capital. In 2019 it was announced they’d be buying a minority stake in the F45 business which was valued at $450 million.
F45 first opened in Montgomery County in Bethesda in December of 2016. Its second location opened on the ground floor of the Solaire 8250 on Georgia Avenue in downtown Silver Spring in mid-December. Many might remember plans for F45 to open at Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg, but plans fell through during the pandemic.
A projected opening date has not yet been provided. More information on F45 can be found on the F45 Training website.
As we announced in November, Cumbl cookies will also be opening in the shopping center.
