Mynd Spa, formerly known as the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, has informed all employees that they are laid off and is closing all 25+ locations across the country.

The company has released the following statement, “It is with sadness and disappointment that Mynd Spa and Salon has permanently closed.”

Mynd Spa had MoCo locations in the Kentlands and Pike & Rose.

Just want you to know that a long time client is thinking of all of you in spite of losing several hundred dollars by purchasing a large package of appointments at a discounted rate a year in advance. Am really going to miss my colorist, hair treatment and stylist, and others who worked there. ? Hope before this horrible virus mess ends you can find another job. ??

    You need to let us ALL know what to do about gift cards we received. Very unfair to do this without notice to customers. Please respond and let everyone know what to do.

    Although unfortunate for those who lost their jobs, it is also frustrating to lose money. Anyone who purchased gift cards not only did it to save money but as an investment in the staff!!! It’s a lose in both ways. Sounds like this company did not invest in their staff. Somewhere someone made bad investments if they laid-off staff as quickly as they did as this “pandemic” hit. Too convenient if you ask me that they just closed their doors.

    I hope the economy reopens quickly and all of those who lost jobs get them back.

    Note to self, I will not invest in something like this again. Times are too unsecured!

    It is quite disgraceful that Mynd Spa- formerly Elizabeth Arden, the classiest of classy- has not responded to any questions about gift card refunds. Sort of like stealing I believe. I have a $300 gift card that I would like a refund on.

    My heart goes out to all of the team members of the Mynd Salon and Spa! Unfortunately, due to COVID many of us find ourselves in similar financial situations, where every dollar counts.

    I too have purchased a gift card for $350. If anyone hears about reimbursement, please post.

  25. Online it says that Mynd spa declared Ch. 7 bankruptcy and permanently closed its doors. This is not a temporary closure for covid.

    I have, I think, $750 in Red Door gift cards (multiple Christmas presents). I asked Arden if they would honor the card, and they said no (I will never give them a penny of my business ever again).

    My guess is that we need to file a statement of claim in the Mynd bankruptcy proceeding.

    I am just finding out about this! I was a member of the monthly membership and had an appointment for March 16th which they called me that morning and informed me that they had to close due to the pandemic and i would be contacted upon opening to redeem. It was for 2 months $200!! I need to get that money back! Definitely sorry about the situation and the employees but an email would have been good

    • Also have a gift card. Has anyone else tried the Villa Floriani website That says they are taking unused gift cards from the salon for product purchases? Or is this a scam? They are saying you can buy their products with the gift card money? Their products were sold at the Red Door Salon.

  42. I don’t know if there’s a way to receive a refund for unused gift cards. I have one for $250 and I contacted Villa Floriani about their offer. Basically, they’ll give me 50% off any purchase up to $500 — but anything I buy at 50% off requires payment. So if I put $500 worth of items in my cart, Villa Floriani will charge me $250, but I still need to pay that $250. They aren’t honoring the gift card per se.

    Mynd did the worst of all bankruptcies. Chapter 7! Which means they owe money to big creditors and it is very unlikely that anyone with gift cards (no matter how much you have) will be able to recoup their money. It is disgusting how they handled it. I feel badly for the employees who had no notice either. There should have been some advance notice so customers could have at least bought products. It makes me so mad!!!

    • Is there a way to file a class action with the bankruptcy? I’d think there is an attorney somewhere on this string that would know our recourse. I have $325 in cards as well.

    It has now been over a year since Mynd closed its doors supposedly temporarily because of the pandemic. Meanwhile everyone above has gift cards that probably total in the thousands that can not be used or refunded. A company should not be allowed to do this without some form of notification or alternative way to spend the gift card money. They intentionally misled the public and assured customers they would reopen when all along they knew it was false. It is very still very frustrating! Just had to vent!!
