A Silver Spring man won $50,000 after purchasing a Powerball ticket for the October 24 drawing at a Waldorf, MD Citgo, according to the Maryland Lottery. This Saturday’s Powerball drawing has an estimated jackpot of $1.6 billion, with a cash value of $745.9 million, making it the second highest lottery jackpot in U.S. history.

Powerball jackpot fever continues to hit the nation and a Silver Spring man is happy to join in on the fun. He won $50,000 by matching four of the five numbers plus the Powerball for the Oct. 24 drawing. The lucky winner said he is a loyal Powerball player. The 37-year-old typically buys tickets for all three weekly drawings regardless of the size of the jackpot. This is the first time he has won a significant prize.
