New York City taco restaurant Tacombi is coming to 4749 Bethesda Ave. in downtown Bethesda. Tacombi got its start in 2005 selling tacos in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico after they purchased a 1963 Volkswagen bus and converted it into a food stand.
Around 2009 they moved to New York City, where they currently have seven locations, including one inside of the Empire State Building. A spokesperson for Tacombi told Bethesda Beat, “As we looked outside of New York, we saw in Bethesda a community that has a lot of the life, activity, and the neighborhood quality that lets us best share the simple enjoyment of authentic Mexican taco culture.”
Their menu features tacos, quesadillas, and burritas (their take on burritos). The website states, “prepared from scratch everyday, Tacombi takes the diversity of home-style Mexican cuisine from its distinct culinary regions and serves it up in the simplicity of a taco.”
We will post an update when opening information becomes available.
