Today (March 28) is the Last Day to Claim $10 Million Lottery Ticket Purchased in Rockville

The Rockville Exxon (11433 Rockville Pike) sold a “Big Double Play” winner for $10 million on Sept. 27, 2021. The ticket remains unclaimed, and today (March 28, 2022) is the last day it can be claimed.

Per MD Lottery:

March brings a change of seasons from winter to spring, but this year it also heralds the expiration of four big winning Maryland Lottery tickets — including a $10 million Powerball prize.

On March 28, a $10 million Powerball ticket will expire, unless the winner comes forward to claim it.

The ticket was sold Sept. 27, 2021 at Rockville Exxon, 11433 Rockville Pike in Rockville, and the winner paid the extra $1 for the Double Play option. The lucky ticket matched the first five numbers plus the Powerball number in that night’s Double Play drawing. It marked the first top-prize-winning ticket sold for Double Play, which was added to the Powerball lineup on Aug. 23, 2021.

Since then? Crickets.

No one has claimed the life-changing $10 million windfall. Anyone who purchased a Powerball ticket last September at Rockville Exxon is strongly encouraged to check and see if that extraordinary slip of paper is in a drawer somewhere, stuck on a refrigerator with a magnet, wedged into a wallet, or in some other ordinary location.

The Lottery strongly encourages players to sign the backs of their winning tickets on the signature line immediately to prevent someone else from claiming the prize. Winning tickets for Maryland Lottery draw games expire 182 days (about six months) after the date of the drawing, so the last day to claim the ticket would be today, March 28th, 2022.
