Auffret is approximately 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighs 150 lbs. He has brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen carrying a light blue backpack and wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants. He may also be wearing a bright green LLBean winter jacket and driving a beige 1999 Toyota Camry bearing Maryland registration plates 2ELM13.  Police and family are concerned for his welfare.

Per MCPS: Students at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School (BCC) took the initiative to organize, over the period of two months, lectures, performances, and panel discussions to unwrap the effects of gaslighting in their school and their communities (video available here).

“It’s important for the school system to address gaslighting because their students, whether we like it or not, are facing gaslighting through parental figures, teachers, even their colleagues, and their peers,” BCC student Jeremy said.

Delhi Spice, a new restaurant serving Indian cuisine, is coming to 4925 Bethesda Ave in Bethesda. The restaurant will be taking over the space that was recently home to Moh Moh Licious and previously home to Himalayan Heritage. Moh Moh Licious has a location at 7414 Georgia Ave NW DC that remains open.

The new restaurant has a hearing for the transfer of the liquor license on Thursday, January 5th at 11:30am and may open before that for food service, as it has already set up menus on food delivery apps. The menu includes vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, including appetizers, salads, soups, Tandoori specialties, entrees, seafood, biryanis, and more.


The United States Park Police are searching for Alexander Shamuilov, 34, who is suspected to have broken into as many as 19 vehicles around Great Falls, Carderock, and Widewater in Potomac. Per Park Police: “Through the investigation of CC 22-035175, a theft from auto that occurred at Carderock Park on 4/19/22 SHAMUILOV has been developed as a suspect. In that case, a Honda sedan was entered by the suspect punching the driver’s door lock. Credit cards were then stolen from a purse and the vehicle was re-secured. This method of entry is consistent with 18 other TFA cases dating back to August of 2021 in the areas of Great Falls MD, Carderock and Widewater. Video in those cases show suspects similar to SHAMUILOV.

Just one day after Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda was vandalized with antisemitic graffiti, multiple Whitman staff members received an antisemitic email from a sender outside MCPS , according to a report from the Black & White Whitman student newspaper (tweet available below). According to The Black & White, administrators notified police and are working to block the sender.

Following the vandalism on Saturday mornings Whitman High School principal Robert Dodd wrote the following in a message to the Whitman community: “I want to share information with you regarding an incident that took place today and how it is being addressed. It was reported, this morning, that there was antisemitic graffiti; the words “Jews Not Welcome” written on our school sign. This behavior is abhorrent, extremely hurtful, and will not be tolerated at Walt Whitman High School. We immediately notified the Montgomery County Police. who are actively investigating the incident. In addition, if found to have been committed by an MCPS student, this incident will be addressed as a disciplinary matter in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding with county police and in alignment with the MCPS Student Code of Conduct.”
