Last month, Waymo announced that its fully autonomous ride-hailing service (a driverless taxi), Waymo One, will be available to riders in Washington, D.C. starting in 2026. The establishment will occupy a roughly 7,000 SF space near Metro Center that’s been vacant since December 2023, when Todd English relocated his MXDC Cocina Mexicana to 1610 14th St. NW.
Beloved DC restaurant, Sticky Rice DC, has announced it will close its doors permanently after 17 years. The restaurant attributes the closing to the “pandemic, decreased foot traffic, rising food labor costs, labor costs, and the impact of Initiative 82.”

Attorney General Anthony G. Brown has joined a coalition of 21 attorneys general in suing the Trump administration to stop the dismantling of three federal agencies— the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Minority Business Development Agency, and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service—arguing that the Executive Order violates the Constitution and harms public services.
