Back in June we let you know of Buc-ee’s first planned Virginia location in New Kent County with plans for an additional Virginia location in the Richmond area announced the following month. Now, a proposal to bring a third Buc-ee’s to Virginia would bring the “Walmart of gas stations” even closer to the DMV.

The chicken sandwich from Isaac’s Poultry Market at 12167 Darnestown Rd in Gaithersburg made it to the top ten in the “best sandwich” category at the World Food Championships in Dallas, Texas on November 12. Earlier this year Issac’s had won the Restaurant Association of Maryland’s “best sandwich competition,” which automatically qualified them for the event. (more…)


Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) superintendent, Dr. Michael Martirano, announced that he will be retiring from his position, effective January 10th, 2024. Per the State of Maryland (11.14.23): “Today, Governor Wes Moore and Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller visited Frederick County. During the visit, the governor and lieutenant governor learned about community-based support organizations for veterans and immigrant populations, in addition to touring the site for the future Downtown Frederick Hotel and Conference Center.

Mayor Muriel Bowser issued a public emergency that she believes “will allow DC Government to respond more efficiently and urgently to two separate issues that, since the pandemic, have not only persisted, but worsened: the deadly opioid epidemic and youth violence.” In a statement released on Monday, Bowser wrote, “Although each of these urgent situations are, to some extent, geographically concentrated, the nature of the two emergencies demands city-wide responses.” The full statement can be seen below:

Per the State of Maryland: “Governor Wes Moore last week attended the National Urban League’s 67th annual Equal Opportunity Dinner in New York City. During the event, National Urban League President Marc Morial presented the governor with the President’s Award, the organization’s highest honor.
