Just a day after it was announced that the Lerner family is exploring the possibility of selling the Washington Nationals franchise, the Baltimore Orioles have announced that the Maryland State legislature passed a historic initiative committing $1.2 billion in public funding from the State of Maryland for reinvestment in and reimagination of the Camden Yards Sports Complex.

This would be the second largest public commitment of funding to a Major League Baseball public-private sports partnership, second only to the 2009 construction of the new Yankee Stadium.


Back in December we let you know that Phillips Seafood would be permanently closing after 66 years in its iconic Ocean City location. The seafood company announced that it decided to sell the property that was home to Phillips Crab House at 2004 Philadelphia Avenue between 20th and 21st Street in Ocean City.

Yesterday, it was announced that Union Chesapeake Seafood House will be taking over the space.

The Washington Post has reported that the Lerner family has begun the process of exploring possible changes to the team’s ownership structure, including the possibility of selling the team.  Current Chevy Chase resident Ted Lerner, 96, purchased the team from Major League Baseball in 2006 for $450,000,000.

Great Wolf Lodge Maryland will be Great Wolf’s 20th resort in North America, and their largest. It will offer 700 family-friendly suites and a 126,000-square-foot indoor water park.


On Sunday night, WWE wrestler Omos will face off against Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, TX. But, did you know that he attended high school in Rockville? The 7’3, 335 Nigerian-born Jordan Omogbehin moved to America with his family and attended school/played basketball at Montrose Christian for the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 school years. He went on to attend and play for the University of South Florida before moving back to Maryland and attending/playing for Morgan State University. His college basketball career spanned from 2012 to 2015.

Omogbehin signed with WWE in October 2018, and made his in-ring debut at last year’s WrestleMania 37 in Tampa, FL. Omos won’t have a shortage of people to talk MoCo with at WrestleMania. Shane McMahon, the son of WWE chairman and owner Vince McMahon, was born in Gaithersburg. The McMahons (Vince, his wife Linda, and Shane) even lived in Montgomery Village for about a decade, and the home they owned was recently sold.

On Thursday, Governor Hogan announced $45 million in violent crime initiatives to address “out-of-control violent crime” in Baltimore. The money will be used to expand warrant initiatives in Baltimore City, as well as additional funding to victim services providers.
