On February 12 at approximately 12:47 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the Hudson Avenue and Roanoke Avenue area for multiple calls about hearing what sounded like several shots being fired.  Officers canvassed the area on foot for suspects, potential victims, and casings.  Officers located seven shell casings indicative of a weapon’s discharge.  Those shell casings were impounded.

Possible suspects and vehicle descriptions were left through the Takoma Park anonymous tip line. On February 10, at approximately 11:02 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6400 block of New Hampshire Avenue for the report of a theft from auto.  The victim’s vehicle was parked at the gas station near a food truck.  She witnessed one suspect open her front passenger door and steal property.  The suspect then entered a black sedan and fled towards the District of Columbia.

According to Takoma Park police, shortly after, the suspect used the victim’s credit card at a retail store in the District of Columbia.  The suspect vehicle is a black Kia Forte with DC tags and the suspect is described as an unknown race male, thin, last seen wearing a black sweater, black gloves, gray shoes, gray pants and a black ski mask. Investigation continues.  Anyone with information about this crime is asked to please call us at 301-270-1100 and reference case #230006793 Featured photo courtesy of Google Maps

On February 9, at approximately 3:30 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6900 block of New Hampshire Avenue for the report of an armed robbery. The victim was waiting at the bus stop when he was approached by two unknown suspects who demanded property while brandishing a handgun.  The victim complied and the suspects left the area on foot. The victim was not seriously physically injured during the armed robbery.

According to Takoma Park Police, the suspects are described as (1) Black male, approximately 6’0, skinny, last seen wearing all black with a black ski mask and (2) Black male, approximately 5’8, skinny, last seen wearing a green shirt and black pants. Lookout information was provided to all surrounding jurisdictions. Investigators are asking that anyone with information about this incident, or knows the identities of the suspects, please contact the Takoma Park Police Department at 301-270-1100 and refer to case #230005483. Featured photo courtesy of Google Maps.

On February 7, at approximately 6:40 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7000 block of Carroll Avenue for the report of a stolen auto. The victim was delivering food when his vehicle was stolen.  The outstanding stolen vehicle is described as a 2019 gray Honda Civic, VA Tag #TTU1834.  Case #230006278.

Per Takoma Park Police: The outstanding vehicle has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) stolen vehicle database. Investigation continues. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to please call us at 301-270-1100

On February 2, at approximately 10:31 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6900 block of New Hampshire Avenue (7-Eleven) for an assault that had just occurred.

According to Takoma Park Police, The victim stated sometime between 10:00 and 10:30, he was in the 7-Eleven when an unknown male suspect approached him.  The suspect displayed a knife.  When the victim backed away, the suspect left the 7-11 but returned shortly after and confronted the victim again, this time throwing a rock through the victim’s front passenger vehicle window shattering it and breaking off the vehicle’s side mirror.  The suspect then fled on a black moped on East West Highway towards Prince George’s County.

On February 2 at approximately 10:00 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 100 block of Philadelphia Avenue (Takoma Park Library) for the report of a vandalism. According to Takoma Park Police, officers spoke with the construction supervisor overseeing the library renovation who indicated that unknown suspect(s) kicked out the bottom glass of the double doors, also causing damage to the door frame, and removed a door knob from a door.  It does not appear as though anything was stolen.

Per Takoma Park Police: On January 31, 2023, at approximately 12:10 am, Takoma Park Detectives were in the area of 4^th Avenue and Eastern Avenue patrolling when they observed three occupants in a vehicle that was stolen.  While attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the occupants of the vehicle bailed out and fled on foot.  All three subjects were apprehended.

There was one adult 18-year-old male and two juvenile males, 15 and 17, all of Washington, D.C.  The juveniles were released to the custody of a parent and/or guardian.  Charges are pending.  This investigation is ongoing and will be updated
