A Maryland man was sentenced to five years of supervised probation after being convicted of willfully filing a false Maryland tax return by failing to report $347,000 he stole from a church insurance payout.

A Gaithersburg man has been sentenced to life in prison, suspending all but 30 years to serve, followed by five years of supervised probation for his role in a fatal 2022 drive-by shooting and a separate 2022 assault, with a recommendation for admission to the Patuxent Youthful Offender program. The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGCPD) Homicide Unit arrested and charged a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of his friend on Saturday in Beltsville. The suspect is 18-year-old Kimaury Kamara of Mt. Holly Spring, PA. He’s charged with manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Derrick Palmer of Beltsville, who we are told was a student at Kennedy High School in Silver Spring.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the May 5 arrest in Silver Spring of a 38-year-old Salvadoran national, a previously deported individual and alleged MS-13 gang member wanted in El Salvador for firearms offenses. (more…)
On Saturday, Laurel Police shared that during the city’s Main Street Festival, “officers swiftly intervened when a driver recklessly breached barriers and drove into the crowd.”
Per Laurel Police: “Thanks to their rapid response, no festival-goers were harmed. However, during the incident, one of our officers did sustain minor injuries after being struck by her vehicle.
