At one point before this season began it appeared that Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson was going to be the next head coach of the Washington Commanders. Things broke down and the Commanders ended up hiring Dan Quinn– a move that seems to have worked out for both teams as Quinn went 12-5 with the Commanders and Johnson’s offense helped the lions to a 15-2 season. Commanders insider Lake Lewis Jr. recently joined Rio Robinson’s podcast to discuss what led to Johnson not being hired.

The 2025 NWSL season will kick off with a matchup between the Washington Spirit and defending champion Orlando Pride, the league announced today. Spirit fans will be able to see their favorite players like Trinity Rodman and Hal Hershfelt in action even earlier this year, a week before the regular season begins.

Due in part to the public’s water-conservation efforts, WSSC Water has lifted the essential-water-use-only request as of 6:30 p.m. today for all 1.9 million customers in Prince George’s and Montgomery counties.

The water distribution system demand and pressure have stabilized, and water storage levels have returned to normal. The Potomac and Patuxent Water Filtration Plants continue to produce water, meeting customer demand.


The Washington Commanders have won their first playoff game since the 2005 season, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20 with a last second field goal that bounced in off the right upright. They head to Detroit to take on the 15-2 Lions in the divisional round on Saturday night for the right to play in the NFC Championship.
