MCPS today sent a message to the community regarding winter weather and the color-coded statuses that are issued when there is inclement weather. A video (available below) featuring superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor also accompanied the message and some have wondered if the video implies that decisions would be made earlier than usual for the school district.

Following the recognition of social studies resource teacher Ken Buffum’s innovative teaching methods, Topps took an exciting step to further engage the students of Damascus High School. In a heartwarming gesture, the trading card company sent several packs of sports cards to Buffum’s class, allowing the students to experience firsthand the thrill of opening packs and the excitement surrounding collectible cards.

This year, Montgomery County Public Schools, Baltimore City Public Schools and Washington County Public Schools joined Frederick County Public Schools as school districts that implemented girls’ flag football during the Fall 2024 season. The first ever state tournament was held yesterday at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore and Clarksburg High School (MCPS) won the first ever State Championship for Flag Football.

Three seats on the Montgomery County Board of Education were up for grabs in yesterday’s general election. According to the latest unofficial results from the Maryland State Board of Elections, Apple ballot candidates Rita Montoya (At-Large), Natalie Zimmerman (District 2), and Laura Stewart (District 4) all appear to have won their races. The Montgomery County Education Association (MCEA) has released the following statement:

Girls Flag Football: Damascus Edges Sherwood in Thrilling Quarter Final Showdown: This past Thursday, the excitement of the MCPS Girls Flag Football Championship Tournament reached a fever pitch as the quarterfinals delivered nail-biting action and standout performances. In the highly anticipated MoCoShow Game of the Week, the Damascus Hornets narrowly defeated the Sherwood Warriors in a 7-6 battle that showcased the heart and skill of high school athletes on the rise.
