Per Montgomery College:

Montgomery College has been awarded a $350,000 National Science Foundation (NSF) grant for its project, New to ATE: Improving Biopharmaceutical Technician Education with Cell and Gene Therapy Credentials (NSF 2155187), that begins July 1, 2022.


Krystian Ochman rose to fame when won The Voice of Poland in 2020 by singing Madonna’s Frozen, Frank Sinatra’s My Way (duet with his coach), and Polish song Nie Czejak Mnie w Argentynie. Now, the singer is representing Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest with his song River.

Ochman graduated from Wootton High School in 2017. While at Wootton he starred in many theatrical productions at the school and later moved to Poland where he studied at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Poland.


MCPS sent out a community message with “key things to know for Thursday, March 31.”

Per Montgomery County Public Schools:

The Maryland State Board of Education recently changed its graduation requirement for health education. Students must now earn one full credit for graduation; previously, they earned one half-credit. This requirement begins with the Class of 2025. The health education curriculum team in the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Schools is developing a new Health Education B class that all students will take following Health Education A.


Radio station Hot 99.5 (WIHT FM) is running a tournament to determine “Who is the best high school in the DMV?”

Wheaton High School is currently facing off against Osbourn Park High School (Manassas, VA) in the final round.


The Montgomery County school board approved design plans for Crown High School (9410 Fields Road, Gaithersburg) at its meeting this past Thursday, March 24. Crown will accommodate over 2,000 students and will alleviate the overcrowding that is occurring in nearby Gaithersburg, Northwest, Quince Orchard, Richard Montgomery, and Wootton high schools. The project is estimated to cost around $180 million.

According to the presentation, the school will utilize onsite renewable energy sources such as solar panels and geothermal energy. The City was able to secure the site as part of the negotiations related to the Crown Farm Annexation Agreement X-182 on August 7, 2006.  The undeveloped 30 acre site is adjacent to Crown Neighborhood Three and is located at the intersection of Fields Road and Omega Drive.

Tyler and Dermott Foley will receive $5,000 for the Grand Prize documentary, “What Happened to Gibson Grove?”

C-SPAN has announced the winners of this year’s StudentCam documentary competition, in which more than 3,000 students from across the country participated. Again this year, 150 cash prizes totaling $100,000 will be awarded to students and teachers.
