Enterprise Purchases $29,600 in Gift Cards to Local Restaurants for its Employees
On March 5th, Enterprise Rent-A-Car gifted all 80,000 of it’s employees (full and part-time) a $100 gift card to a local restaurant for Employee Appreciation Day. That included 296 of its workers here in Montgomery County.
The local branches chose independently owned restaurants that were close to Enterprise locations. Enterprise said that they wanted to show gratitude towards its employees while at the same time helping the local economy.
Restaurants where gift cards were purchased from included Mamma Lucia ($17,000), Gemelli’s Italian Market ($6,000), and St. Veg ($500).
“The opportunity to both surprise our employees with a gift while also lifting up local establishments hard hit by the pandemic was really special. We appreciate that we have come out on the other side of hard times and want to help other businesses do the same!” said Kris Stuber, VP of HR, Enterprise.

GameStop in Fallsgrove to Close
The GameStop located at 14929 Shady Grove Rd in Rockville will be closing in the early part of 2021. It is the only GameStop store in Montgomery County that has announced it is going out of business.
Since 2019 the chain has closed over 700 stores nationwide and has already announced they will be closing another 1000 stores by April.
Currently GameStop still has locations in Bethesda, Germantown, Montgomery Village, Silver Spring, and Wheaton. The Aspen Hill location, which recently closed, will be reopening in the shopping center.
For up to date information you can visit the unofficial GameStop Closing List website.

We are sad to see them go!
Shivi Brian Mohanani-Neil, age 28, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, was found dead in a hotel room in Hagerstown. Police say no foul play is suspected in his death.
Mohanani-Neil robbed the same Rockville SunTrust bank three times (Safeway in Fallsgrove) between January 27th and March 3rd earlier this year before moving on to the SunTrust in Safeway on New Hampshire Ave in Cloverly.
Full story from Montgomery County Police here.
They closed a few months back and last week Store Reporter announced that Jersey Mike’s will be moving in.
We heard back from the Fallsgrove shopping center who confirmed the report and told us there’s no opening day at the time, but that it’s “probably in a couple months.”
Owners Harold Autry and Aaron Benjamin are lifelong MoCo residents!
Anne, the owner, tells us that she has been vegan for over a decade and wanted to share the food she’s passionate for with the county she calls home.
The Good Counsel graduate is the creator of the entire menu and hopes to wow you with dishes such as the Vegball sub (vegballs are made of brown rice and various mushrooms, depending on what they have in for the day), the shredded medley bahn mi, and the no guilt burger (made of lentils, brown rice, and mushrooms). Everything on the menu is 100% plant-based.
I was lucky enough to sample the flavor bomb sandwich, which comes with a small bowl of pho for dipping, and mom’s caramel tofu bowl.
As someone who loves meat and many other animal products, I was a little hesitant. My hesitation was quickly put to rest with the first bite of the sandwich…it was delicious! The bowl was awesome too, with many different flavors coming together highlighted by the house-made caramel sauce.
Their drinks, which are coming soon, will feature fresh squeezed lemonade and a hibiscus tea that will feature actual steamed flowers and a drop of agave).
St. Veg will be open from 11am-9pm.

That location was supposed to close at the end of August 2017, but signed a year extension. A few weeks back, the year ran out and Jerry’s packed up and left.
We are now down to three Jerry’s locations in MoCo (Aspen Hill, Burtonsville, and Gaithersburg).
We will update this article with more information about the restaurant as we get it.
